Accounts Manager in Practice

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established, independent accountancy practice based in Maidstone. Founded just over ten years ago, the firm has enjoyed steady success and is now entering an exciting new phase of accelerated growth. As part of this expansion, we’re looking for an Accounts Manager who’s ready to take ownership, drive client relationships, and play a key role in the firm’s continued development.

The Role

This is a hands-on position offering significant variety and autonomy. You’ll manage a diverse portfolio of clients across different sectors, ensuring exceptional service and technical accuracy. Responsibilities will include:

• Managing and nurturing a mixed portfolio of clients

• Overseeing tax compliance, statutory accounts, and bookkeeping functions

• Supporting and mentoring junior team members, helping them develop their technical and professional skills

• Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, providing commercial and financial insight

• Contributing to process improvements and helping shape the firm’s future direction

• This role offers daily client interaction and the opportunity to make a tangible impact—both on your clients’ businesses and the firm itself.

About You

We’re looking for someone proactive, personable, and confident in managing client relationships. You’ll have the drive to work independently while contributing positively to a close-knit team environment. Ideally, you will have:

• At least 3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice

• ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent) – part-qualified or QBE candidates will also be considered

• Strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation, tax compliance, and bookkeeping

• A genuine interest in mentoring others and helping a growing team thrive

• The ability to manage multiple clients with professionalism and attention to detail

• A commutable base within 30 minutes of Maidstone
