About the Role

We’re working with a well-established and expanding independent firm of accountants based in Dymchurch, who are seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in practice, within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

About the Role:

As Payroll Clerk, you’ll play a key role in managing payroll across multiple clients and sites. You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end processing of payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent service delivery.

This role would be ideal for someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a practice environment, who is confident handling a variety of payrolls, has strong manual calculation skills, and a working knowledge of Auto-Enrolment and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • End-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients across various sectors
  • Manual payroll calculations including statutory payments, adjustments, and corrections
  • Auto-Enrolment compliance and pension submissions
  • Liaising with clients to resolve queries and gather payroll information
  • RTI submissions and keeping up to date with current payroll legislation
  • Supporting year-end procedures including P60s, P11Ds, and reconciliations
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ payroll experience within an accountancy practice
  • Confident with manual calculations and Auto-Enrolment procedures
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and MTD processes
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines independently
