Finance Manager

A dynamic and growing logistics business based in East Kent is looking for an experienced and qualified Finance Manager to lead and strengthen its finance function. This is a key position within the company, offering the opportunity to play a central role in supporting operational and strategic decision-making as the business continues to expand.

About the Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance Manager will take full ownership of the finance function, ensuring robust financial reporting, cash flow management, and compliance. This role requires a hands-on approach and a commercial mindset, with the ability to work closely with operational teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning
• Manage day-to-day finance operations including invoicing, credit control, bank reconciliations and payroll oversight
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks
• Provide financial insight to support business planning, pricing, and profitability analysis
• Supervise and develop a small finance team

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Previous experience in the freight, logistics, transport, or related sectors highly desirable
• Strong technical and commercial finance skills
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Hands-on and proactive, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Able to work independently and take full responsibility for the finance function
