Accounts Senior

We are currently working on behalf of a highly respected, independent accountancy firm located on the Kent / London border. This firm has built its reputation by delivering precise, proactive, and commercially minded advice to a loyal portfolio of small to medium-sized limited companies—clients who rely on accuracy, speed, and deep business understanding in an environment where margins are tight and every decision counts.

As the firm continues to grow, there is now a key opportunity for an Accounts Senior to join their team. This is an ideal position for someone who thrives in a hands-on role, values client interaction, and comes from a similar background—where working with owner-managed businesses and SMEs is second nature.

The Role:

You will take ownership of a varied portfolio, preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, and VAT filings. You will be trusted to work closely with business owners and directors, offering practical, tailored advice beyond compliance. A solid understanding of the pressures and nuances of SME businesses is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders

• Corporation tax computations and basic planning

• Oversee and review bookkeeping and VAT returns

• Build strong, ongoing relationships with a broad range of clients

• Identify opportunities to improve client reporting, systems, and tax efficiency

• Support junior staff and assist with training where appropriate

About You:

• ACA/ ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)

• Strong experience in general practice, ideally within a small or medium-sized firm

• Comfortable managing a client portfolio independently

• Technically strong with excellent attention to detail

• Personable, commercially aware, and confident in client meetings

• Familiarity with cloud-based systems (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
