Accounts and Audit Senior

I am pleased to be representing a small but thriving firm of chartered accountants based on the Kent / London border. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts and Audit Senior to join a close-knit, professional, and highly regarded practice that continues to grow through the strength of its reputation and the quality of its client service.

This firm may be modest in size, but it truly punches above its weight when it comes to the calibre and complexity of its client base. You’ll work with a diverse portfolio of businesses, many of which mirror those found in much larger firms — offering both variety and challenge within a supportive, personable environment.

The Role

This role will involve a minimum of 50% audit work, with the remainder focused on accounts preparation, review, and related advisory services. You will take ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion, liaising directly with clients and partners, and ensuring work is delivered to the highest professional standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning, managing, and completing audits for small to medium-sized entities.

• Supervising fieldwork and reviewing the work of junior staff.

• Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for a varied client portfolio.

• Maintaining strong client relationships and providing sound financial advice.

• Assisting partners in identifying opportunities to add value to clients’ businesses.

• Acting as a mentor and guide to junior team members, helping to develop their technical and professional skills.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally be a formally qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA) with at least five years’ experience in general practice and audit. You’ll have a sound understanding of audit processes and accounting standards, combined with the confidence to lead assignments and support less experienced colleagues.

You will bring:

• Strong technical knowledge in audit and accounts.

• Proven experience managing audits independently.

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

• A proactive, hands-on approach and a genuine team ethic.
