About the Role

I’m working with a well-established and growing firm of accountants who are looking for a hands-on Payroll Manager to lead and shape their payroll function across three offices.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who wants to take ownership, make an impact, and play a key role in developing both the service and the people around them.

The Role

As Payroll Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for managing your own client portfolio while spearheading the payroll operations across the firm’s network of offices. You’ll oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensure compliance with current legislation, and be the go-to expert for all payroll-related matters.

You’ll also mentor and develop a junior member of staff — providing guidance, support, and the opportunity to help shape their career as the team continues to grow.

What You’ll Need
  • A minimum of 3–4 years’ experience in Payroll within an Accountancy Practice environment
  • Proven ability in manual calculations and a strong grasp of auto-enrolment processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines with accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — you’ll be dealing directly with clients, HMRC, and internal stakeholders
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to lead and continuously improve systems and processes
