Accounts & Tax Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking and fast-growing firm of Chartered Accountants based in Ashford, who are seeking an experienced Accounts & Tax Manager to join their expanding team.

The Role:

You will take on a mixed “doing and reviewing” role, with a focus on delivering high-quality work while also reviewing the output of junior team members. You will be involved across both accounts and tax, and the firm is particularly looking for someone who can go beyond pure compliance – advising clients on tax planning opportunities and contributing to more complex and value-added assignments.

You will:

• Prepare and review statutory accounts and tax returns for a broad range of clients

• Advise clients on corporation tax, personal tax, and VAT matters – both routine and advisory

• Supervise and mentor junior team members, supporting their development and reviewing their work

• Work closely with partners and senior managers to deliver a high-quality service to clients

• Begin managing your own portfolio of clients, building trusted relationships over time

• Contribute to the firm’s ongoing development, suggesting improvements in processes and services

About You:

The ideal candidate will be:

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with a solid grounding in both accounts and tax

• Experienced in a UK practice environment, comfortable working with owner-managed businesses

• Able to demonstrate confidence in tax matters beyond compliance, such as tax planning or restructuring

• A strong communicator with a genuine interest in mentoring and developing junior staff

• Commercially aware, client-focused, and motivated to grow within a progressive practice
