About the Role
We are currently partnering with a well-established, brand-recognised organisation based in Mid-Kent to appoint an experienced Interim Senior Payroll Officer / Payroll Manager. This is a critical appointment to support the business through a busy transitional period, with an assignment expected to last between 2–4 months.
This opportunity will suit a confident payroll professional who can quickly add value, ensure continuity, and provide leadership within a high-volume payroll environment.
The Role
Reporting into senior finance leadership, the successful candidate will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely delivery across a large employee base. You will also provide oversight and guidance to the existing payroll team, maintaining high standards and resolving any complex payroll matters.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end processing of high-volume payroll with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance
- Managing payroll deadlines and ensuring all statutory obligations are met
- Acting as a point of escalation for complex payroll queries
- Supporting, mentoring, and coordinating the payroll team
- Reviewing and improving payroll processes where appropriate
- Liaising with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders
About You
- Payroll qualified (CIPP or equivalent preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high-volume payroll environment
- Proven ability to manage or supervise a payroll team
- Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure
- Available to start at short notice
