Accounts & Tax Manager

Farrer Barnes is recruiting for an excellent Accounts & Tax Manager opportunity with a well-established and highly regarded chartered accountancy practice based in Sevenoaks.

This successful firm has built an excellent reputation across Kent, the wider South East and nationally, providing a comprehensive range of accountancy and advisory services to an impressive and diverse client base. Its portfolio includes owner-managed businesses (OMBs), SMEs and larger corporate organisations, with many clients experiencing continued growth.

Following a period of sustained success and with ambitious plans for the future, the Partners are looking to strengthen the team with the appointment of an experienced Accounts & Tax Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice professional to join the firm at an exciting stage of its development and play an important role in its continued growth.

Based from the firm's Sevenoaks office, you will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients, working closely with the Partners and wider management team. The role offers the opportunity to develop strong client relationships, support junior colleagues and take ownership of a broad range of accounts and tax work.

The Role

As Accounts & Tax Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients, reporting directly to the Partners.
• Overseeing workflow across your portfolio, ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget and to a consistently high standard.
• Reviewing and preparing accounts for partnerships, sole traders and limited companies.
• Reviewing and preparing personal and corporate tax returns.
• Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT work.
• Undertaking analytical reviews and communicating findings and recommended actions clearly to clients.
• Providing a high level of client service, responding to queries and acting as a trusted point of contact.
• Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
• Working closely with the management team and supporting the Partners with a range of client and firm-wide projects.
• Building strong, long-term client relationships and contributing to client retention and business development opportunities.
• Identifying opportunities to further support clients and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

About You

We are looking for an experienced practice professional who is ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent, with a strong background across accounts and taxation.

You will ideally have developed your career within an accountancy practice and be comfortable providing a broad range of services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, owner-managed businesses and limited companies.

You will also bring:

• Strong technical knowledge across accounts and tax.
• Previous experience managing a portfolio of clients.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Experience reviewing work and supporting or mentoring more junior team members.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• A commercially minded and client-focused approach.
• The ambition to develop your career within a successful and growing accountancy practice.
