Accountancy Practice Accounts & Tax Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing accountancy practice seeking an experienced Accounts & Tax Manager to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant or experienced practice professional who enjoys managing client relationships, overseeing a varied portfolio, and supporting the development of a high-performing team.

The Role

As an Accounts & Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality accounting and taxation service.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of accounts and tax clients
• Leading client meetings and providing accounting and tax advice
• Reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns before submission
• Ensuring compliance with HMRC and Companies House requirements
• Monitoring workflow and allocating work across the team
• Reviewing files to ensure quality, compliance, and technical standards are met
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Managing deadlines and ensuring all client commitments are delivered on time
• Supporting year-end reporting requirements, including P11Ds and other tax-related filings
• Driving efficiencies through technology and best practice processes
• Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior team members
• Contributing to a positive and high-performing team culture

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience managing a portfolio within an accountancy practice
• Strong accounts and tax knowledge
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills
• Experience reviewing the work of others
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Experience using accounting software, ideally:
• Xero
• Sage
