Accountancy Practice - Accounts & Audit Senior

As a recruiter working closely with a highly regarded firm in Tunbridge Wells, I am pleased to be supporting the search for an experienced Accounts & Audit Senior to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practice professional who is looking for more than a routine compliance role. The firm offers a genuinely interesting mix of work, high levels of autonomy, and clear scope to progress into a Manager-level position in the near to medium term.

The Opportunity

You will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients, with the majority of your time focused on accounts preparation and tax work. Audit exposure is included but operates very much as a secondary element, providing breadth rather than dominance in the role. The firm is known for trusting its people, giving seniors real ownership of their work and direct access to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of statutory accounts for a varied SME client base

• Personal and corporate tax compliance, with exposure to advisory work

• Supporting and mentoring junior team members

• Liaising directly with clients and building long-term relationships

• Audit work as required, acting as a reliable back-up rather than a core focus

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience within UK accountancy practice

• At least 50% of current or recent role focused on accounts preparation and/or tax

• Strong technical grounding with the confidence to manage work independently

• Ambition to progress into a management role

• ACA / ACCA qualified or at an advanced stage of qualification
